ELIGIBILITY (MS 240B.19)
Election judges must be: 1) Eligible Voter(U.S. Citizen; 18 years of
age or older; Minnesota resident for at least 20 days; maintain residence at
address listed); 2) able to read, write and speak in English; 3) a
member of a major political party(in the event there is not a
sufficient number of election judges affiliated with different major
political parties, persons may be appointed who are not affiliated with
major political parties, persons may be appointed who are not affiliated
with major political party MS204B.21, subdivision 2).
Party Affiliation:
Minnesota Law defines “Member of
a Major Political Party” as a person who:
- supports the general principles of a
political party as stated in that party’s constitution,
- voted for a majority of that party’s
candidates in the last General Election, or
- intends to vote for a majority of a
party’s candidates in the next General Election.
Please indicate
your political party affiliation. The information is needed because State Law
requires that no more than half of the judges in a precinct may be from
the same party.
Some or all of the
information that you are asked to provide on the application is classified
by State law as either private or confidential. Private data is information
which generally cannot be given to the public but can be given to the
subject of the data. Confidential data is information which generally
cannot be given to either the public or the subject of the data. Our
purpose and intended use of this information is to determine eligibility for
serving as an election judge and will be provided to other election judges
serving in the same precinct for purposes of coordinating election
activities.
