CONDUCT IN OR NEAR POLLING PLACE
ON ELECTION DAY |
Everyone has the right to vote in an environment free from influence.
Minnesota Statute 211B.11:
An individual may not linger, display campaign material, post signs, or
campaign within a polling place or within 100 feet of the building where the
polling place is located.
The campaigning activities listed above also cannot be performed anywhere
on public property where the polling place is located.

CAN BE IN POLLING PLACE
ON ELECTION DAY |
To preserve the rights of voters, these are the persons who; should and
could be in a polling place on Election Day?
 | voters |
 | election judges |
 | county auditor |
 | challengers
(challengers must prove now residence in State, not necessarily precinct;
using valid Election Day Registration proof) |
 | clerk or deputy clerk |
 | minor children of voters, accompanied by parents |
 | persons providing assistance |
 | persons vouching for a voter |
 | observers authorized by OSS |
 | peace officers, if requested by and election judge |
 | teachers with students when prior authorization by OSS |
 | persons making a written complaint |
 | people unable to read english |
The following statues allow these persons to also be in the polling place
on Election Day.
Minnesota Statute 204C.06, Subd. 2:
Teachers & students may observe only voting process.
 | must have prior written permission |
 | must notify head judge on day of election |
 | can't interview, no notes, or talking to voters or judges |
 | voters privacy must be kept |
Minnesota Statute 204C.06, Subd. 8:
Media may be in polling place; for a time no longer than 15 minutes,
to observe only polling process.

 | must provide ID on day of election to head judge |
 | may interview a voter in the polling place, but may not interfere with
voting process |
