Beaches - Orono  
   
bulletCasco Beach
 
           This is a narrow strip of land 60 feet wide and 235 feet long between 2871 and
           2879 Casco Point Road on Spring Park Bay.  The park has a swimming dock
           and swim area buoys.
   
bulletLydiard Beach
 
           This is a narrow strip of land 66 feet wide and 566 feet long on Lydiard Street  
           and on Carman's Bay.  The beach has a swimming dock and swim area buoys.
   
bulletSummit Beach Park
 
           This is on the East end of Long Lake on East Long Lake Road.  The
           park is five acres and has a swimming dock, buoys and picnic tables.
           There are 10-stall parking lot, and toilets are provided May through
           September.

Beaches - Area
Deephaven
  There are five beaches in Deephaven that open early June.  Parking in close proximity to the beaches requires a $50 permit, but public parking is available for free farther from the beach.
bulletDeephaven Main Beach
           At: 19405 Lake Avenue, this beach has a swimming dock, a sports court,
           playground equipment, a sun arbor, picnic tables and grill.  Lifeguard hours
           are from 10:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
bulletSandy Beach
           At: 20300 Lakeview Avenue.  Sandy Beach boasts a swimming dock,
           restrooms, limited parking and a picnic table.  Lifeguard hours are from
           noon - 6 p.m.
bulletRocky Beach
           At: 20020 Lakeview Avenue.  No lifeguards are stationed at this beach. 
           Amenities include a swimming dock but limited parking.
bulletWalden Beach
           At: 19355 Walden Trail.  No lifeguards are stationed at this beach.
           Amenities include parking, picnic tables, restroom and beaches.
bulletRobinson's Bay Beach
At: 3344 Robinson's Bay Road.  Amenities include restrooms, swimming dock,
off-street parking and picnic table.  Lifeguard hours are from noon - 6 p.m.
Excelsior
  Last year, more than 100 people stumbled upon the beach at the end of First Street in Excelsior, which is open from the first part of June until Mid-August.

           Hwy 7 W to Excelsior exit, proceed to the corner of the Lake and Water St.
           Amenities include a nearby concession stand, bathrooms and metered parking.
           Lifeguards are on duty from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Lake Independence

Long Lake

           In Long Lake, Hwy 12 E to Lake Street Left to Lake
           A small beach, which isn't staffed by lifeguards, is open during daylight hours.
           Playground equipment and grills are nearby, and not so far off is a fishing pier. 
           Limited parking.
Minnetonka
  Home to the popular Shady Oak Beach, which is used by nearly 55,000 people every summer, Minnetonka also offers the smaller Libbs Lake Beach for a more neighborhood feel.
bulletShady Oak Beach
At: 5200 Shady Oak Road, this beach is open the first part of June to first part of
August.  Lifeguard hours are 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Beginning August 6th the beach closes at 8 p.m.  Swimming in the lake will end half an hour before sunset.  Amenities include concessions, a picnic area, a floating dock and volleyball courts.  Season passes $35-$56.
bulletLibbs Beach
At: 16515 Park Lane, this beach will have limited lifeguards on duty but swimming is allowed in an unsupervised setting.  No beach permit is required for parking as parking is very limited.
Minnetonka Beach

Minnetrista
  If you don't like swimming with the fishes, Three Rivers Park District's man-made swimming pond (with chlorinated water) now open through first weekend in September is your answer.
bullet Lk Mtka Regional Park Beach

           At: 4610 County Road 44 - Hwy 7 W to Cty Rd 44 N.
           Lifeguard hours are between noon - 8 p.m. on most summer days, but the
           beach opens at 9 a.m.  Amenities include concessions, and picnic areas.
           Hiking and biking trails are nearby.  Admission is $2 per person or $20 for
           a family season pass.
Mound
  Although Mound has several smaller beaches, these three are its largest.  Of them, Mound Bay is the largest.  All the beaches are open during daylight hours, but they don't have lifeguards.
bulletCenterview Beach
Located on Centerview Lane, this beach offers a fishing pier, picnic tables and
toilets.
bullet Mound Bay Park Beach

           At: Bartlett Boulevard
           Hwy 394 W to Cty Rd 15 W to Commerce Blvd., turn left and proceed 1 mile.
           The largest of Mound's beaches.  Offering sand volleyball courts,
           playground equipment and grills, picnic tables and toilets. Offers docks for
           bathers coming by boat.
bulletWychwood Beach
Located at Wilshire Boulevard and Boulevard, this is a smaller beach with
limited parking and has picnic tables and toilets.
 
Shorewood
bullet Crescent Beach

           A small sandy beach.  It is staffed with lifeguards from the first part of June
           through Mid-August from noon - 7 p.m. daily, weather permitting. 
           A swimming dock is provided, and the swimming area is roped off.
Tonka Bay
  Tonka Bay offers two beaches with lifeguards and of course, sand.  Both are open daily, the first part of June through Mid-August.

Hwy 7 to Cty Rd 19 W follow Cty Rd 19 to Birch Bluff Road, turn left.
           Lifeguards hours are from noon - 6 p.m.  Amenities include a dock.

           At: 300 W. Point Road
           Hwy 7 to Cty Rd 19 W to West Point Road, turn right.
           Lifeguards hours are from noon - 6 p.m.  Amenities include picnic tables,
           grills, playground equipment and tennis courts.
Plymouth
  Find playground equipment galore at three Plymouth beaches, perfect for family outings.
bulletMedicine Lake East
At: 740 E. Medicine Lake Blvd, this beach is open end of May to the end of August, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.  No lifeguards are stationed at this beach.  Amenities include volleyball courts, trails, picnic site with grills, playground equipment, bathrooms and changing areas.  Free.
 
bulletMedicine Lake West
At: 1920 W. Medicine Lake Drive, lifeguard hours 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. the first part of June through Mid-August, but beach opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m.  Amenities include nearby trails, and volleyball court, and playground equipment, picnic shelters and a fishing pier.  Free
bulletParkers Lake Beach
At: 15205 County Road 6, lifeguard hours are 11:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. from the first part of June until Mid-August, but beach opens 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.  Amenities include trails, picnic sites with grills, playground equipment and a pavilion with bathrooms and concessions are nearby.  Wednesday entertainment.  Free
Wayzata
bulletMarina Beach
At: 220 Grove Lane E., lifeguards hours are from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. from the first part of June through Mid-August.  Amenities include boat access, drinking
water, parking off street, electrical outlets, picnic area, restroom, volleyball
courts.  New playground equipment.  Free for residents.

           Hwy 394 to Central Ave., turn left, proceed to Wayzata Blvd.  Turn right,
           then first left; proceed to Lake Street and turn right.  Proceed to Barry Ave.,
           turn left and proceed to Grove Street and turn left.
