City of Orono's Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The City of Orono takes the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously and is proactively working to minimize public health risk by following the recommended guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention and the Minnesota Department of Health.

To prioritize the health and well-being of our community, and to help slow the spread of coronavirus the City Hall lobby is closed to all visitors. A material drop off area has been established in the vestibule located at the front entrance of our City Offices. Visitors may use this drop off area for any documents, plans, or other materials pertaining to city business. Any in person payments can be put in the secured payment drop box located adjacent to the parking lot in front of the Police Department.

The City of Orono will remain fully staffed during regular business hours to answer any questions by phone or email. The City will continue to closely monitor the situation and will communicate significant updates as needed.

Latest Update:

March 20, 2020 11:40 AM

All meetings and contacts with the public with the exception of Police, Building Inspections, and Public Works functions, will be conducted via e-mail, phone, or web conferencing where necessary. The City remains committed to maintaining our high level of customer service and responsiveness to our residents. City Staff will continue to be accessible during standard business hours.

During this time, e-mail is the preferred method of initial contact. Please view our staff directory for contact information.

Submit permit and land use application information electronically though the City’s website using the citizenserve application portal. City permitting staff will continue to receive and process permits normally, and continue to provide responsive customer service.

Licensing, permitting materials, questions, and comments should be submitted electronically while the City of Orono offices are closed to the public.
