Wayzata Blvd (CSAH 112)Phase II Landscaping

As part of our agreement with Hennepin County and the City of Long Lake, the City of Orono is responsible for managing the landscaping plan for Phase 2 of the Wayzata Boulevard (CSAH 112) road reconstruction project. Phase 2 is the portion from approximately Birches east to the Highway 12 ramp which will reconfigure the intersection at Old Long Lake Road and incorporate a multi-use path that connects to the Long Lake commercial center and the Luce Line Trail. Situated along the southern edge of the lake, the surrounding existing landscape is wooded and predominantly residential. Orono is also doing a separate adjacent project to restore areas of erosion along the ravine near the Old Long Lake Road intersection.

Within the project there are two locations identified for landscaping; around the storm water treatment pond and intersection of Old Long Lake Road and the new trail connection area at the Luce Line. The plans will incorporate native trees and shrubs to complement the surrounding woodland character, re-establish neighborhood buffer, and help retain steep slopes. The rest of the Phase 2 area will be restored with grasses by the County as part of the construction process.

Orono contracted with SRF Consulting Group, Inc. to prepare landscaping plans. Attached are the latest Set of Draft Plans..
